Psalm 11 Reflections
Updated: Jun 15, 2021

In reading Psalm 11 this morning and reflecting on the practice of the enemy of accusations, I am reminded of how Satan and hi emissaries constantly fires arrows of accusation in an attempt to cause us to run in seeming defeat, even forgetting that there is victory and promise from our God who is in His holy Temple. Our God who sits on His throne will engage our enemy on our behalf if we invite Him to do so.
This is such a beautiful contrast between the enemy of our soul and the Mighty God who is on His throne:
“In the Lord I take refuge; How can you say to my soul, “Flee as a bird to your mountain? For, behold, the wicked bend the bow, They have set their arrow on the string To shoot in darkness at the upright in heart. If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do?” The Lord is in His holy temple; the Lord’s throne is in heaven; His eyes see, His eyelids test the sons of mankind.”
Psalms 11:1-4
Another beautiful promise found from this Psalm is how God “beholds” His righteous and even tests and purifies the righteousness found in His children. The same fiery arrows that strike the righteous (right living) becomes the fire for purifying, testing, and solidifying our pursuit for God’s heart and Kingdom ways. There are many commands through the Bible for us to ‘behold’ the Beautiful Christ, rightly so. But it is a powerful encouragement to know that God ‘beholds’ us; He gazes on, meditates, admires, treasures all that is dedicated to His name.
May you be encouraged as you read and meditate on Psalm 11, knowing that though you have a real enemy pursuing and attacking you, even greater, you have a mighty God in Heaven on His throne who promises to defend us and justify us by Christ’s testimony. We win in the end!
