WHAT IS GOD'S FAVORITE SONG?

As I am revisiting the Book of Song of Solomon, there is a burning bush being unvealed to me. There is fresh hunger and passion stirring in me. This beautiful 8 chapter love song was what God used to stir my heart into personal revival back in 2007. This prophetic song is to be understood as the greatest song of love in human history, as inspired and declared by the Holy Spirit of God through King Solomon. As a case in point, Solomon actually wrote over 1,000 songs in his lifetime, similar to his father, King David. The book of Song of Solomon is a song that was sung poetically and prophetically by Solomon and his generation. I imagine that every generation has had an opportunity to rediscover the majesty and mystery of this book as one of revealing the dream of God burning in His heart and waiting to be fulfilled before Christ's return. Even as I type this blog, I can imagine that Jesus' pastoral correction and discipline to the Church in the City of Ephesus in the first century could have been remedied if only they would have returned to the theme of first love in first and highest place being declared in the book/song of Solomon's favorite song. Jesus corrected and called them back to His heart by repenting and returning to Him in first place.
All of the scripture is given for the purpose of bringing humanity into the heart, dream, vision, and fullness of loving obedience of Christ. Surely this is includes the book of Song of Songs? Surely Christ is being pointed to as the 'Greater King & Bridegroom'? Surely the Bride & Church of Christ is being pointed to as the greater Sulammite Maiden? Surely this greatest Song of Solomon can point to Christ's favorite and great song of holy maturing love of His promised Bride to come?
2 Timothy 3:16 “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness,”
John 5:39 “You search the Scriptures, for in them you think you have eternal life; and these are they which testify of Me.”
Revelation 19:10 “...Worship God! For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.”
As the Church of Christ Jesus is looking at the rapidly approaching finish line, possibly in our own lifetime, of the return of Christ to earth, there is a burning in my heart and a message from this book that I believe needs to be rediscovered if we are to finish this life-race well and not be distracted or discouraged or run the danger of forsaking our faithful living in Christ. This book Song of Solomon is a picture of the path that God desires to take His Son's Bride on for the sake of maturing in love and preparing for His return to rule the earth. If this Song of Songs is the greatest Song in scripture (No need to argue over this point, unless you have another song that you think greater in the Bible.) then what is Holy Spirit wanting to reveal to us about the dream in the Bridegroom's heart? Holy Spirit led and instructed Solomon to call it "The Song of All Songs, which was penned by Solomon". We truly believe that all scripture is God-inspired and points back to Christ, including this book and song.
Let's look at the final picture of Christ's inheritance of His prepared Bride:
Revelation 19:7 “Let us be glad and rejoice and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.”
This is the dream of Christ's heart. This is the promise from His Father. This is what He is actively asking the Father for continually. This is at the heart of all that burns in His heart and causes Him to interact with humanity on the earth. It's what He ever lives to make intercession for. Look at Psalm 2 and John 17 and Hebrews 7:
Psalm 2:8 “Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.”
John 17:20-21 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.”
Hebrews 7:25 “Therefore He is also able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.”
The focus and intention of Christ in prayer is to pursue and receive something that has been promised but has not yet been fulfilled. You are the dream of Christ's heart. You are the apple of His eye. You are the object of His affection. You are the reason for the rest of Creation. You are the 'WHY' behind the 'WHAT'. This book is for you! Don't relegate it for the other person or a vague undefinable group of believers. It is first for YOU. This book is FOR ME! This is Christ' dream and process of how He patiently and generously and lovingly Shepherds us through life's joys and pains, all while working to produce something that will cause us to want Him as our greatest reward in the end. This process of maturing love is an imperative for us in order to be ready to work and labor with Him in the ages to come. For those who trust Jesus as Savior and Lord over our sinful past and promised future, we will be entrusted with the highest privilege of all of creation. We will rule and reign with Christ forever and experience His joy in partnership. This is Christ' dream, vision, and the prophetic word and theme that is to be recaptured in our generation (Acts 2:17 "Pour out My Spirit...My dreams...My visions...My words...Your salvation and life.") As I continue digging into this beautiful love song, I look forward to writing much more and sharing as the Lord allows me the opportunity. May your heart be drawn into this book by Holy Spirit to see your name in this song. Amen!
